How to Clean the Microwave with Natural Products
If you go to the bestmicrowave.reviews website and read some microwave oven reviews, you will see that the best rated microwave ovens feature interiors made of quality materials that can be easily cleaned. However, the same cannot be said for older models. If your microwave oven is a few years old, cleaning it can be very hard, especially if it hasn’t been done in a long time. Gunk usually builds up in microwaves and if time passes and it hardens, the job of cleaning the microwave gets more and more difficult. But there are some ways to clean it fast and without the use of chemical products that may harm you. After all, the food is heated in this device; therefore natural products should be the choice when cleaning it in order for chemicals not to get in contact with what we put in our mouths. To add to the point, being natural products, they are things we have around the house. This makes things easier, of course. Here are some methods of cleaning the microwave with the use of natural products:
Clean it using a lemon
First you need to cut the lemon in half. Put both halves on a plate, placing them cut-side down. Pour a teaspoon of water in the plate. Set the microwave to a minute and put the plate inside. By the end of the minute, the inside of the microwave should be steamy. Next, take the plate out and wipe the microwave on the inside with kitchen towels.
Every household has vinegar, making this natural cleaning solution even more indicated. A lemon might not always be in the fridge, but surely vinegar can be found in the kitchen. To use this method, first get a bowl or a glass. Half fill it with water and pour just a tablespoon of white vinegar. After doing so, place the bowl or glass in the microwave. Set the timer to five minutes or less if you have a high-power microwave. The walls of the microwave will steam up and the dried-up gunk will loosen. When the time is up, remove the bowl or glass from the microwave and wipe the inside of the microwave with kitchen paper. The gunk will surely come off easy.
Combine lemon and vinegar
The two methods mentioned above can also be used together. Take a bowl and pour in it half a cup of white vinegar, half a cup of water and a quarter of a cup of lemon juice. Set the timer of the microwave to five minutes and place the bowl inside. After the time has passed, take the bowl out and clean off the interior of the microwave using kitchen paper.
Clean using water alone
This might not be the best method, but if you can’t find a lemon or white vinegar and you’re too lazy to go buy some, simply use water. Half fill a bowl with water and stick it inside the microwave. Set the timer between five to ten minutes and wait until the set time passes. When the time has passed, get the bowl out of the microwave and start removing the dirt, using a cleaning cloth. This method softens the gunk too, but indeed it is a bit harder than the other mentioned methods.
